公元132年，张衡发明了地动仪。它是世界上第一架测定地震及方位的仪器。地动仪圆径八尺，形似酒樽。它的外部有八条龙，分别朝向八个方位排列。每条龙的嘴里都含有一颗铜球，下方蹲坐着一只张着大嘴的蟾蜍。无论哪个方向发生了地震，对应方位的铜球就会落到蟾蜍的嘴里，发出巨大的响声。

Zhang Heng invented the seismograph in 132AD. It's the first instrument that could determine the earthquake and its direction in the world.The seismograph is 8 feet high , like a wine vessel.Surrounding it there are 8 dragons lining in 8 directions.There is a big copper ball in each dragon's mouth, under which sits a toad with mouth open wide. If the earthquake happens in any direction ,the copper ball will fall into the mouth of toad below ,and make a loud noise.
